Support to Georgian State Electrosystem in Implementation of New Energy Sector Regulations
Project Description
This project is part of EU’s efforts to support the energy sector in Georgia. It supports Georgian State Electrosystem (transmission system operator, TSO), and partially the Georgian Government, in its efforts to reform the electricity market in line with the EU legislation and the Energy Community Treaty in particular. In the longer term, these efforts are expected to result in a stable and transparent investment climate in the electricity sector, and bring higher standards of consumer protection.
The project works closely with the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission.
Specific Objective
Fostering the reform of the electricity market of Georgia in line with the provisions of EU acquis, to further approximate Georgian Energy legislation with the EU acquis as well as to strengthen the energy market sector in accordance with the EU legislation and the Energy Community Treaty.
Expected Results
– Improved framework for security of supply and capacity for its implementation
– Implementation of Network Codes in compliance with new requirements
– Development of Transmission System Operator standard agreements with market participants
– Power system planning in compliance with ENTSO-E
