The project partners, Action Against Hunger (AAH) and the Kakheti Rural Development Foundation (KRDF), aim to introduce a bottom-up, community-led approach, that facilitates the engagement and social inclusion of a broad range of local stakeholders, to design and deliver a rural development support programme in the municipality of Akhmeta. The project will utilise the LEADER methodology that supports inclusive and participatory approaches to local development. One of the core aims of this methodology – and the specific objective of this project – is to promote the voices of community members within local development planning and to further their involvement in decision-making processes on the support measures that will impact on the quality of life and economic well-being of rural communities. The principal mechanism of this approach is the Local Action Group, which is a public-private partnership of local community members that represent a broad cross section of different groups and sectors within the municipality.
