EU and World Health Organization deliver critical COVID-19 supplies to frontline health workers in Georgia

07/09/2020

A shipment of personal protective equipment (PPE) arrived in Georgia last week to help healthcare workers to continue responding effectively and safely to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The delivery of nearly 1.5 million units of PPE, funded by the EU and procured by World Health Organization, include 5,000 face shields, over 13,000 protective goggles, 30,000 protective gowns, 1,000,000 medical masks and nearly 330,000 respirator masks.

This is one of the largest cargos of PPE to arrive in Georgia with donor support. The supplies will safeguard medical staff in the frontlines of COVID-19, and ensure that the healthcare system is well prepared in the near future.

All items of equipment have been checked to ensure they meet the quality and safety standards for healthcare staff working with COVID-19 patients. The PPE will be distributed to laboratories, medical centres and ambulances across Georgia.
