Ensuring Participatory Decision Making Processes at Regional and National Levels by Empowering NGOs/CSOs
Project Description
Participation of civil society organizations in the process of developing and implementing vital policies in the country are widely promoted by EU programming in Georgia.
This projects is one of the initiatives that focuses on empowering civil society organizations to become leaders in immediate communities and advocate for change. The project works in Mtskheta-Mtianeti; Imereti; Ratcha-Lechkhumi and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions of Georgia and raises awareness of local actors on environmental issues. It also raises public awareness on EU requirements on protection of the environment, mobilizes social groups for action, establishes networks of local organizations and builds capacity for participatory decision-making.
Specific Objective
To strengthen civil society organizations in 4 regions of Georgia and raising public awareness on Environmental Impact Assessment procedure and supporting their involvement in decision-making processes.
Expected Results
– Increased public awareness on EU Directives and supporting harmonization of the local legislation;
– Mobilized social groups;
– 4 NGO/CSO networks established in 4 target regions;
– Increased capacity of local civic organizations in participatory decision making.
